Frequently Asked Questions

We primarily offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for anxiety and depression, though our therapists may be able to offer alternative therapy and adjust their approach depending on your situation.

CBT itself is a highly effective form of therapy. You’ll work with a therapist who will help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. They will teach you specific techniques to challenge and change negative thought patterns, leading to improved mental well-being.

One technique commonly used in CBT is cognitive restructuring. Here, your therapist will guide you to identify and challenge distorted thoughts that contribute to your anxiety/depression. By replacing these negative thoughts with more rational and positive ones, you can experience a shift in your mood and outlook.

Another effective technique is exposure therapy. This approach involves gradually and safely exposing you to situations or stimuli that trigger anxiety or fear. Through repeated exposure, you can learn to tolerate and overcome these distressing feelings, eventually diminishing their impact on your daily life.

Moreover, your therapist may discuss relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, or mindfulness meditation. These techniques aim to reduce overall anxiety levels and promote a greater sense of calm and inner peace.

Overall, CBT is a structured and goal-oriented therapy that empowers you to actively participate in your healing process. By learning and practicing these specific techniques, you can gain valuable tools to manage anxiety and depression, ultimately improving your mental health and overall quality of life.
